- Changes to the Mining Act 1978 - Compulsory Partial Surrenders
- Annual Environmental Reports (AER's) - From July 1st, 2013 online lodgement will be mandatory for all tenement holders who are required to submit an AER. Hard copies won't be accepted after this date.

Northern Territory
- The Minister for Mines and Energy has just announced that from 1st October 2013 a new 1% levy on new and existing Environmental Rehabilitation Security Bonds will come into effect for Territory mining companies. The revenue generated will be used to create a dedicated legacy mining unit and fund environmental remediation. Link to official media release.

South Australia
- A new online ‘widget’ has been released in SARIG 2020 giving explorers and miners the ability to track the progress of their mineral exploration licence application. Reported in the Mesa Journal Volume 67 December 2012 Link
- Recent amendments to the Mining Act 1971 have altered the way that expired, surrendered or cancelled mineral exploration licence (EL) areas may be released to industry. In July 2012 DMITRE implemented the exploration release area (ERA) process to apply to areas identified for release pursuant to these amendments.
- August 2013 - Minister for Mineral Resources will be considering Exploration Licence applications over the some areas previously held by DMITRE. Link
