Overview

The Ministry of Mines and Energy is a national public entity belonging to the superior level of the central executive. It is responsible for the administration of nonrenewable natural resources in Colombia by ensuring their best and greatest use; directing said use and its regulations; guaranteeing their supply and protecting natural resources found in the environment for the purposes of safeguarding its preservation, restoration and the country's sustainable development, in accordance with the evaluation, follow-up and environmental management criteria that have been indicated by the relevant environmental authority.
